Microsoft is adding a feature from Windows 11’s Start menu to Windows 10. This update introduces the “Account Manager” when users click their profile picture in the Start menu.
The new Account Manager replaces the standard buttons for logging out, locking the device, or switching profiles with Microsoft 365 promotions. The original options are now hidden in a submenu.
This change was found in recent Windows 10 preview builds in the Beta and Release Preview Channels. Currently, it’s turned off by default as the submenu for sign-out and lock buttons isn’t working yet.
To test this update, users can install Windows 10 build 19045.4842 and activate specific features using the ViVeTool app.
While Microsoft hasn’t officially announced the Account Manager for Windows 10, it’s likely to be rolled out widely since it’s already in the stable version of Windows 11.
This update may cause confusion for some users, as common actions like signing out are now less obvious to find.
