PPDS, the exclusive global provider of Philips Professional Displays and complementary solutions, is delighted to officially announce its expansion into the outdoor display market, with the launch of the new 10,000 nit, Ultra High Bright, Philips Urban LED 6000 Series at ISE 2024 in Barcelona.

As part of a double announcement, this also now includes sporting venues, with PPDS, confirming its selection as the exclusive official supplier of LED and digital signage display for FC Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou stadium redevelopment, and earmarking its new outdoor line up to answer the Club’s needs for 2000m2 (1.2km) of outdoor LED, including two concourse rings and three video scoreboards.

With the renovated stadium scheduled for completion in 2026, a range of Philips Professional Displays has already been selected, playing an integral role in a new FC Barcelona fan experience.

Designed to take centre stage in any environment the Ultra High Bright Philips Urban LED 6000 Series truly takes outdoor LED to the next level, bringing unmatched levels of flexibility, reduced energy, and powerful visual performance, for viewing distances of between 10-30 metres.

Available in a range of interchangeable 10mm pixel pitch panel variants to suit – 120(W) x 120(H), 120 x 90 and 90 x 90 – the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series will deliver unparalleled high contrast (5000:1) and high refresh rates of 7680hz for smooth broadcasting – including live coverage on matchday – with more colour subtlety, shading, and saturated colours.

Mirroring other popular solutions within PPDS’ ever-evolving Philips dvLED portfolio, the new Philips Urban LED 6000 Series is limited only by imagination, with the freedom to connect and combine an unlimited number of panels of different sizes for total creative freedom for outdoor installations of almost any form factor. This could be a billboard on a motorway, a giant display outside a shopping centre, or a digital scoreboard inside a sporting venue – the opportunities are limitless.

Made for outdoor

For convenience and ease of installation and maintenance, the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series comes with front and rear access design, providing easy upkeep of internal electronics helping to ensure speedy turnaround times – for unlikely faults or replacing dead pixels – reducing callout times. Each of the LED modules in a Philips Urban LED 6000 Series cabinet can be unlocked and easily removed using a T-hex tool.

For ultimate peace of mind and further helping to ensure optimum performance at all times, the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series comes with an IP65 rating, making panels resistant to water, such as rain or cleaning, in any direction, as well as protected against potentially hazardous or corrosive airborne pollutants, such as dust or salt spray if by the coast. The modules also come fully equipped with long shader masks, further protecting the modules and ensuring deep contrast as well.

In addition, the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series has been built to cope against even the harshest of environments, be they sub-freezing conditions of -20°C (-4°F), or extreme temperatures of up to 50°C (122°F) – without risk of condensation – while continuing to provide optimum visual performance.

High energy efficiency

As with all current and future Philips Professional Displays and solutions, sustainability remains a key consideration when it comes to PPDS’ product design. The Philips Urban LED 6000 Series has been optimised for lower power consumption, running at just 280 watts per square metre.

Packaging also continues to be a key focus for PPDS, with the Philips Urban LED 6000 Series delivered in 100 per cent recycled and recyclable materials. All plastic bags (including those for individual accessories and components in the box) have been removed, while the use of polystyrene has been replaced with innovative cushioning made using 100 per cent recycled paper. This maintains the same high levels of safety and protection of the product.
