Square Enix has announced the release date for the second installment of its ambitious Final Fantasy VII Remake saga. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on February 29. The announcement was made during Sony’s State of Play showcase, accompanied by a new trailer that provides a glimpse of the upcoming game.
In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the search for Sephiroth continues as players follow the journey of Cloud, Yuffie, and other characters who have escaped from Midgar. The sequel promises a globe-trotting adventure with various environments, including grassy fields where players can ride Chocobos, and even some unconventional modes of transportation, such as a Segway.
Square Enix is emphasizing the vast scope of the game, as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on two discs and is estimated to offer nearly 100 hours of gameplay. However, despite its substantial content, the game will only take players up to the midpoint of the original Final Fantasy VII storyline, highlighting the depth and detail being put into the remake.
For players who may have missed the first installment, Square Enix is offering a “twin pack” that includes Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (the upgraded version) and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Pre-orders for this bundle are already open, and those who purchase it will gain instant access to the first entry in this trilogy, allowing them to experience the entire saga from the beginning.
