Readme File

Meaning – The term readme file, refers to a file that should be viewed before the program associated with it is installed or executed. A README file typically contains last-minute product information, installation information, or tips on using the product.

It often accompanies the program’s installer or is installed with the program. A typical readme file contains instructions on how to install the program, how to use the basic functions of the program, and what the program does. It may also include a list of recent updates made to the program.

Typically, readme files contain late-breaking information that could not be included in the printed documentation.
