Meaning – The term file, refers to the collection of data stored in one unit. It is identified by a unique file name that is set by the individual or the organization. A file may be a document, picture, audio or video stream, data library, application, or other collection of data.
The second type of file is known as a library file and it is defined as the file that is referenced by a specific program, or the operating system itself. Programs such as Microsoft Internet Explorer and Apple iTunes are both applications but are also files.
Files on a computer can be created, modified, deleted, or clubbed together with other files into a folder.
