Meaning – The term installation, refers to preparing and placing a functional unit in position for use. Usually, when you buy yourself a new smartphone or a computer, or any other electrical appliance, it is not a complete plug play system. There will be some sort of a manual that we have to follow, in order to get the machine ready for use. The process of understanding and implementing the steps required to make the device operational is known as installation.
Installation of a computer program is the act of making the program ready for execution. The installation refers to the particular configuration of software or hardware with a view to making it usable with the computer. A soft or digital copy of the piece of software is needed to install it. There are different processes of installing a piece of software.
Example of usage – “He was very eager to get started with his newly purchased computer, but he had to get a bit of installation done.”
