In the context of information processing, a computer is referred to as a digital computer.
In a more general sense, a computer is an electronic device that is used for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program.
Computers are also thought of as the perfect amalgamation of hardware and software, where the physical components such as CPU, monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc are the hardware, while the operating system is the software.
Example of usage – “When she bought herself a new computer, she got the operating system pre installed, so she could just boot it up and get started.”
