Meaning – The term link, refers to the combination of the link connection (the transmission medium) and two link stations, one at each end of the link connection. A link connection can be shared among multiple links in a multipoint or token-ring configuration.
The term link may also refer to the act of interconnecting items of data or portions of one or more computer programs: for example, the linking of object programs by a linkage editor, linking of data items by pointers.
Links can be attached to text, images, or other HTML elements. Most text links are blue since that is the standard color web browsers use to display links.
Example of usage – “When a link is applied to an image, the link tag encapsulates, or surrounds the image tag. Since the image tag is nested inside the link tag, the image itself becomes a link.”
