Asus has officially announced the prices for its new ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. The base model, ROG Xbox Ally, is priced at $599 / £499 / AU$999. The higher-end ROG Xbox Ally X costs $999 / £799 / AU$1,599. Pre-orders are live in multiple regions, including the official ROG Webstore, Microsoft Store, Asus eShop, and local retailers. The standard ROG Xbox Ally features a 7-inch display, AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage. It is built to run AAA games on the go and supports Xbox Game Pass streaming. The Ally X adds more power with advanced cooling and higher performance for demanding titles. Both devices include a premium build, customizable controls, and Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. Asus aims to compete directly with devices like the Steam Deck while providing full Xbox integration. The focus is on delivering smooth gameplay and long battery life, making handheld gaming practical for travel or home use.

Pre-orders are live across multiple regions. In the US, buyers can pre-order through Asus, Microsoft, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. UK customers can use Microsoft, Amazon, Argos, Currys, Very, and Smyths. Australia offers JB Hi-Fi, Amazon AU, and local retailers. Pre-orders guarantee launch-day delivery on October 16. Limited stock is expected, so early orders are recommended. Retailers may bundle accessories or special editions, depending on the market. Asus emphasizes that demand will be high given the combination of handheld portability and Xbox integration.

Both models are optimized for performance on the go. The Ryzen Z2 A processor ensures fast loading times and smooth framerates. 16GB RAM allows multitasking, and storage is sufficient for multiple large games. Xbox Game Pass integration makes cloud gaming seamless. Ally X improves on the base model with better thermals and sustained performance under heavy loads. Both consoles are compatible with PC titles and Xbox streaming, letting gamers switch between local and cloud play. The handhelds are designed for gamers who want portability without compromising on graphics or controls.

The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X compete directly with Valve’s Steam Deck and other handheld gaming PCs. Pricing positions the Ally as a premium option, with Ally X at the high end. Asus leverages its gaming experience to deliver ergonomic design, superior cooling, and Xbox ecosystem integration. Analysts expect strong demand among gamers who want a hybrid console-PC experience. While competition exists, the Ally series stands out for Xbox Game Pass compatibility and handheld performance. Asus’s strategy focuses on building a dedicated audience for portable high-performance gaming, emphasizing versatility and brand reliability.
