Xiaomi Unveils Third Foldable Phone with Zoom Camera and Sleek Design

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest foldable phone, the Mix Fold 3, featuring several improvements over its predecessor. The Mix Fold 3 has a folded thickness of 5.26mm, an unfolded thickness of 10.86mm, and weighs 255 grams. It comes with a periscopic 5x zoom camera and a selfie camera, addressing some of the issues from the previous model.

The phone boasts 50W wireless charging alongside a 67W wired option, providing a 55-minute charge time via wireless and 40 minutes through wired charging for its 4,800mAh battery. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with clock speeds up to 3.36GHz, catering to tasks like video editing on its larger screen.

The Mix Fold 3 features a total of four Leica-enhanced cameras on the rear: a 50-megapixel main camera with optical stabilization, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera, and a new 10-megapixel periscope camera for 5x zoom. The external and flexible screens offer 20-megapixel front cameras for selfies and video conferencing.

The device’s screens have been upgraded with Samsung’s E6 OLED technology, providing improved efficiency and outdoor visibility with up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness on the external panel. The hinge has also been improved, boasting a durability figure of 500,000 folds certified by TÜV Rheinland. The Mix Fold 3 includes a kickstand back cover and protection frame.

The Mix Fold 3 is available for pre-order in China, with prices ranging from approximately $1,240 to $1,515. It comes in various memory and storage configurations, with a choice of composite material or glass finishes. As of now, Xiaomi has limited the device’s release to the Chinese market.
