Indie Game Megajump Soars to Over $500,000 on Steam for a Brief Time

The pricing of video games has become a contentious issue since triple-A developers set $70 as the industry standard. While some games are cheaper, a few are slightly more expensive, such as an indie game on Steam that was briefly priced at over $500,000. This was not an error on the developer’s part, but an intentional experiment to test the limits of Steam pricing. The Megajump developer discovered that they could list their game for $502,634.46, which is the highest price ever set on the platform. However, Steam eventually lowered the price, and Megajump is now free to play with a Very Positive rating. The current titleholder for the most expensive game on Steam is The Hidden And Unknown, priced at a little less than $2,000. Its developer notes that the game should take less than two hours to complete, allowing players to claim a refund afterwards.
