Meaning – The word broadband is very commonly heard in the context of computer networks, and it refers to the transmission of wide bandwidth data over a high speed internet connection. High speed internet access across multiple technologies, such as fibre optics, wireless, cable, DSL, etc, are all made possible thanks to broadband.
Usually, people mistaken Wifi to be the same as broadband. However, this is not true. While WiFi connects your smartphone, laptop or other WiFi enabled devices to the router/modem, broadband is the actual internet connection that your modem/router uses to send and receive data from your house to the wider world.
