Lucid, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently released its first set of accessories, which includes an at-home charging station capable of supporting up to 19.2kW of electrical power, equating to around 80 miles of range every hour of charge. The Lucid Connected Home Charging Station costs $1,200, and the business claims shipments will begin on November 30th, with a “limited number” accessible until 2023.
It includes a 24-foot connection and is “hardware ready” for bidirectional power flow for “clients wishing to incorporate their vehicle into the company’s future energy ecosystem.” “Bi-directional charging functionality for the Lucid home charger and Lucid Air will be enabled through OTA in the future,” said Emma Lattanzio, a Lucid PR contact.
When compared to the charging connector that comes with the EV, Lucid claims that its home station will virtually quadruple the pace at which the Lucid Air can be charged. It’s still AC electricity, so it’s not Tesla Supercharger speeds, but it’s quicker than several home EV charging stations, including Tesla’s $400 third-generation wall charger. The earlier second-generation Tesla charger was capable of 19.2kW power, the maximum support for a Level 2 charger, however, it is no longer available, and the current model tops out at 11.5kW.
Ford provides comparable capabilities, such as bidirectional power flow and 19.2kW output, with the Charge Station Pro, which costs $1,310 and is available to F-150 Lightning owners.
Another new Lucid product is the Air Cargo Capsule, a top box with an aerodynamic shape similar to the sedans. The Cargo Capsule increases cargo capacity by 11.47 cubic feet without requiring Lucid Air owners to fold the rear seats. The Air Cargo Capsule is available in a single finish, a split matte/gloss black made of ABS, and will cost $2,000.
The new Lucid Air Crossbars, which are certified for up to 165 pounds of weight, are available for $500 for the daring. You can load up the Lucid Air with a wide selection of outdoor recreational equipment since it is compatible with many Yakima mounts for bikes, surfboards, and kayaks. Lucid has also launched a $250 selection of all-weather mats for the EV’s interior, available in graphite and black.
The Cargo Capsule will be available in early 2023, while the Connected Home Charging Station will be accessible in limited quantities until 2023. All additional accessories are anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2022.
