Network application program

Meaning – The term network application program, refers to a program used to connect and communicate with adapters on a network, enabling users to perform application-oriented activities and to run other application programs.

A network application is any application running on one host providing communication to another application running on a different host. Network applications allow network operators to easily manage and monitor network traffic as well as analyze data that can be used to improve network systems.

Network programming traditionally covers different layers of the OSI/ISO model (most of the application-level programming belongs to L4 and up).
