Communication Controller

Meaning – A communication controller refers to a small computer device that is used to manage the input/output data in a network, a host machine or a computer. This controller allows for the user tracking of all network activities and saves it all on a mainframe computer.

Communication controller include devices such as bridges, routers and even multiplexers. These devices convert parallel data into serial data to facilitate network transfer and handle other network related tasks, including error control, data compression, proper routing and security parameters.

Another name for a communication controller is front end processor.
