Burst

Meaning – The word burst, or burst networking refers to the transmission of a compressed message at a very high signalling rate, in a very short interval of time.

The term data burst originated in the 1980s, when many broadcasting companies around the world, transmitted textual information at very high speeds, and the the only way for the viewers to actually understand these bursts, was to video tape that message and read it while pausing often.

Burst transmission enables communications between data terminal equipment (DTEs) and a data network operating at dissimilar data signalling rates.

Example of usage“The gamer experienced a data burst when the file he was downloading off the internet, suddenly experienced very high download speeds.”
