Tabi Entertainment has announced a delay for its upcoming title The Bestest Alchemist. Originally planned for a late 2025 release, the game is now scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2026. This decision was made to provide the development team with more time for final polishing, balance adjustments, and technical refinements.
The Bestest Alchemist is a strategic puzzle roguelike that features a protagonist named Charlotte who is a student at the Alchemist Academy. The gameplay utilizes a specialized match 3 system where players have the freedom to move ingredients anywhere on the board rather than being limited to adjacent swaps. Players must arrange materials to brew over 100 different recipes while managing a timer. Success in these puzzles grants access to bookmarks which provide passive abilities that change the mechanics of future runs.
Development progress has continued despite the shift in the timeline. Tabi Entertainment confirmed that the story mode script is now complete and that the user interface for ingredients and achievements has been updated. The added development time is being used to improve visual assets and the responsiveness of the core gameplay systems. The studio also recently added Japanese language support to the existing demo version of the game.
The New York based development team describes the project as a blend of inventory management and scoring systems found in traditional roguelites. Players progress from an apprentice rank to the title of Master Alchemist by completing various semesters at the academy. Each run provides randomized challenges and synergies depending on the artifacts and recipes unlocked by the player.
The Bestest Alchemist will be available on Steam for Windows and macOS. While a specific day has not been finalized, the launch window is confirmed for the January to March period of 2026. A free demo is currently accessible on the Steam store page for users who wish to test the mechanics before the full version arrives. Pricing details for the standard edition will be revealed closer to the new launch date.
