I Am Groot will be available on Disney Plus on August 10th. The animated shorts revolve around none other than Baby Groot himself, with Vin Diesel reprising his role as the adorable anthropomorphic sapling’s voice.
In a tweet, Marvel Studios previewed the upcoming series by releasing an official poster of Baby Groot relaxing atop one of the headphones attached to Peter Quill’s famed Walkman. He lies down next to a palm tree-shaped air freshener, revealing just how small he is, with two four-eyed penguin-like animals peering out from behind him. We haven’t seen these two mischievous-looking animals in any of The Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but they appear to have a part in the forthcoming series.

Aside from the picture, Marvel and Disney haven’t divulged much else about the programme, other than it would “follow Baby Groot’s glorious days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars.” We don’t know if any other Guardians will appear in animated form in the programme, or if it will only centre on Groot (and his very limited vocabulary).
Disney already has many short series on its streaming service, most of which are aimed at children, that follow favourite side characters who may not have received enough attention in the films in which they starred, such as Dug Days, and Olaf Presents, and Ice Age Scrat Tales.
I Am Groot will premiere on Disney Plus on August 17th, immediately before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. The live-action Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus in December, making it the first original Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff.
