Samsung has halted all product shipments to Russia, the company declared on Friday. “Shipments to Russia have been suspended due to current geopolitical developments,” reads a statement emailed to Samsung’s generic PR email account by an unknown Samsung representative. “We’re still keeping a close eye on this complicated scenario to see what our next measures should be.”
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Samsung is the latest tech company to halt new product sales in the country. According to the latest information, Samsung would have been able to transport technology to Russia despite some export restrictions, but the company may have decided to suspend shipments on its own.
Apple, EA Sports, and CD Projekt Red, the creators of Cyberpunk 2077, have all paused sales in Russia, while Microsoft has said that “any new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia” will be suspended.
Google has halted all ad sales in Russia, Reddit has prohibited links to Russian state-sponsored media sitewide, Facebook has ceased suggesting Russian state media globally, and Twitter has suspended ads in Russia and Ukraine, among other actions. However, Russia has retaliated by slowing Twitter and outright prohibiting Facebook in the nation.
