Mirroring

Meaning – The term mirroring, refers to the maintenance of more than one copy of stored data to prevent the loss of data. This procedure is carried out in organizations around the world, as there is always a risk of losing data due to human error or system corruption. Most organizations may store backups of critical and confidential data in secured servers located in various places around the world. Some organizations even go a step beyond and maintain hard copies of the data as well.

No matter the procedure, one common factor in this whole exercise, is that the data is secured using the best encryption techniques available, with the key being made available only to a handful of people.

Example of usage“Since there had been a lot of data leaks in the past year, the organization decided to mirror the data and store it in secured servers in undisclosed locations, with tight encryption protocols in place.”
