Encryption

Meaning – The term encryption, refers to the process of transforming the selected data into a form that cannot be understood at first glance. This process is employed by organizations and individuals when they want to share some data that is truly confidential and is only meant for the eyes of a certain recipient. In order to access the contents of the encrypted file, the recipient needs to know the cipher itself or must have the cipher key bundled with the encrypted file.

There are many encryption techniques available and while some of them are considered to be obsolete, they have formed the basis for the more modern approaches that we employ today.

Example of usage“He was hired by the organisation because of his expertise on data encryption techniques. He was able to encrypt data with ciphers that were next to impossible to crack.”
