Meaning – The term domain namename server, refresh to the server that contains the required information, relating to the domain name and the IP address of a corresponding online entity. Whenever there is a DNS enquiry, the information is received from this domain name server, making it a crucial repository of information.
A domain may correspond to multiple IP addresses, sometimes in different parts of the world. Whenever your computer wants to find the IP address associated with a domain name, it first makes its request to a recursive DNS server, also known as recursive resolver.
This server is operated by the internet service provider, and it knows which other server needs to be involved, in order to resolve the domain name with the right IP address.
Example of usage – “When she tried to access google, the domain server had to resolve the domain name with the corresponding IP address belonging to her nearest area.”
