Distributed Print System

Meaning – Many a times, when there is some data to be printed, the print requested on a host computer where the data is stored. This data is then printed using the available printer. However, if you need the data to be printed using a different system, then the setup you need to use is known as a distributed print system. Using this, the print data can be interchanged across different computing environments, thereby allowing data to be printed on a system other than the one at which the print request was generated.

This distributed print system is very useful in organisations where there are multiple systems, each capable of receiving and printing the required data.

Example of usage“In host-to-LAN distributed printing, data that resides on the host is printed on printers attached to a local area network (LAN).”
