Meaning – The word deactivate, refers to the process of taking a node of the process, and render it inoperable, or to place it in a state where it cannot operate the way it is meant to operate.
Usually, in any software or other process, there are some nodes that may start misbehaving, and cause problems to the overall functioning of the package. In such cases, the computer itself, or the user, deactivate the misbehaving nodes, so that they can be worked upon, while the rest of the package is either allowed to keep running, or it shut down, until such a time that the node has been fixed and is up and running.
A process that has been deactivated, can always be reactivated whenever the individual or organisation deem fit.
Example of usage – “The organisation decided to deactivate one of their software offerings, as it was not behaving properly after the latest update.”
