Meaning – A dedicated server, is a form of web hosting, where the website has exclusive access to its own server. When you start your own website, the first thing you need to do is decide the kind of hosting you want for your website. If you are just starting out, and are not expecting a flood of traffic, or if your website does not intend to include transactions, a shared server is the best bet.
However, if you are using the website to allow people to purchase commodities, and are thereby anticipating a large influx of traffic, then the best option, is to go for a dedicated server.
Having a dedicated server means you’ll be paying the entire cost to run the server and for hardware upgrades, software and the possibility of staff to maintain the server.
It must be noted that using a dedicated server costs significantly more than using a shared server, but you end up getting more options as well.
