iPhone 17 “Air” Concept
Apple has been experimenting with different flagship iPhone models since the iPhone 12 mini’s introduction in 2020, which did not perform as expected. After discontinuing the mini, Apple replaced it with the iPhone 14 Plus, but this too failed to capture significant market share. Now, Apple aims to shake things up with a thinner, more unique iPhone 17 model.
Earlier rumors hinted at this new slim design, featuring a smaller Dynamic Island, an aluminum frame, a 6.6-inch display, and a more basic camera setup. The iPhone 17 “Air” is positioned between the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro, offering a stylish option for those who don’t require the full capabilities of a Pro model.
Gurman anticipates that this sleek design will be more successful than previous mini and Plus models, potentially driving meaningful growth for Apple in 2025. Looking ahead, Apple might eventually integrate Pro-level features into this slimmer design, potentially creating a popular “Ultra” iPhone model by 2027.
Gurman also mentions that Apple is considering a foldable iPhone, though a foldable iPad might hit the market first. He further confirms that the iPhone SE 4 could debut as early as 2025, featuring a larger OLED display and advanced Apple Intelligence features.
