Curveball Games has announced Sente, a simultaneous turn-based tactical game developed in collaboration with Argentinian studio Oxobox Game Studios, with a playable demo now available on Steam.
The strategic tabletop title pits up to six players against each other in grid-based battles where all actions resolve at once—forcing players to anticipate opponents’ moves rather than simply react to them.
Two Decades From Paper to Pixels
Sente represents a passion project that began as pen-and-paper sketches 20 years ago. Oxobox, primarily known as a software development firm building SaaS platforms for over 15 years, is making its game development debut with the title it describes as “future chess.”
The simultaneous turn mechanic sits at the game’s core, requiring players to think strategically, plan moves, and set up chain reactions to mislead opponents before delivering surprise attacks.
What’s in the Demo
The Steam demo offers approximately one hour of content, including tutorial missions, player-versus-AI matches against one or two opponents, and an introduction to campaign mode characters.
Three AI opponents teach progressively complex mechanics: a TV Teacher covering basics, The Claw offering two difficulty modes that punish mistakes, and a Challenge-Bot presenting 23 hand-crafted puzzles focused on strategic clarity.
Notably absent from this release is player-versus-player functionality. The developers indicate multiplayer testing waves will come later.
Looking Ahead
Curveball Games, the publishing arm of Curveball Leisure Group formed in 2025, is targeting a full release in 2026. Players interested in early access to future playtesting events can join the game’s Discord community.
