Vertiv Launches Industrial-Grade UPS That Runs in Extreme Heat — Up to 50°C

Vertiv has released the PowerUPS 6000 Industrial, a rugged uninterruptible power supply built specifically for factories, oil and gas sites, pharmaceutical plants, and other harsh environments where standard UPS hardware simply cannot survive. The unit carries an IP42 ingress protection rating and is rated to operate in ambient temperatures up to 50°C — two specs that immediately set it apart from the office-focused competition.

The system is available in a wide range from 6 kVA to 200 kVA at 400V, giving engineers flexibility to spec it for everything from a small automation cabinet to a full production line. At the core is IGBT rectifier technology paired with true double conversion architecture, delivering up to 97% efficiency in normal operation. Flip it into ECO mode and that figure climbs to 99% — meaningful savings at industrial scale where power bills run large. The design supports VRLA, nickel-cadmium, and lithium-ion battery chemistries, so operators aren’t locked into a single battery strategy.

Certifications matter in regulated industries, and Vertiv has secured EN50121 (railway applications) and EN50171 (central power supply systems for safety equipment) marks on this unit. That opens doors in transportation and critical-safety contexts that other UPS products can’t enter. Supported sectors listed by Vertiv include manufacturing, transportation, oil and gas, pharma, and food and beverage — essentially anywhere that can’t tolerate a power event and can’t afford a temperature-sensitive UPS faulting out in summer.

Why It Matters

Industrial facilities have long been underserved by power protection vendors who focus on the data center and office markets. Most commercial UPS units derate aggressively above 40°C and lack the ingress protection needed on a factory floor. By targeting those gaps directly — wide kVA range, extreme-temperature rating, multi-chemistry battery support, and the right compliance marks — Vertiv is making a clear push for industrial OT infrastructure that increasingly runs edge computing and automation gear requiring clean, continuous power.

Vertiv is a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, serving data centers, communication networks, and commercial and industrial environments worldwide.
