The futuristic flying car Switchblade is taking to the skies with a new crowdfunding campaign. Samson Sky, creators of the unique 3-wheeled sports car that transforms into a plane in minutes, just launched the initiative on Wefunder.
It comes right after their successful test flight back in November 2023. Now they want to ride that momentum into production by generating capital and buzz. A board member said it lets everyday investors get behind breakthrough tech normally reserved for big money players.
In their crowdfunding announcement, Samson Sky’s CEO said backers stand to gain financially, own a stake in revolutionary eco-friendly transport, and help usher in the future.
The Switchblade sets itself apart from other “flying car” companies with its sleek, sexy design ethos. It still needs a runway for takeoff unlike vertical liftoff crafts. But once airborne, it hits 200mph powered by an electric hybrid drivetrain and clean auto fuel.
On the ground, its unique 3-wheel setup drives like a sports car while letting the wings and tail fold away in under 3 minutes. They haven’t publicly shown it transform by itself yet though.
The concept has captured imaginations globally, with over 2300 reservations already from 57 countries. That demand is tangible too – orders are at $472 million despite the $170,000 price tag.
Samson Sky has raised $10 million pre-crowdfunding. Now they want to scale up production to meet the hype. A patent strategy should help deter copycats and cement the Switchblade’s pole position.
The vision is for these in garages across America, driving owners to nearby airports for quick getaways. With crowdfunded capital, Samson Sky can start fulfilling those flight-drive adventure dreams.
The Switchblade flying sports car offers the romance of aviation with the convenience of driving. This Wefunder campaign aims to push futuristic transportation into the mainstream.
