Mercedes Draws Inspiration from ‘Glory Years’ Cars for 2024 Challenger

Mercedes driver George Russell has expressed his team’s struggles during the Belgian Grand Prix and acknowledged the need for improvements to catch up with Red Bull and Max Verstappen. Mercedes, which dominated the Constructors’ Championships during the turbo hybrid era, has faced challenges in the 2022 season, with Red Bull leading the championship.

Russell mentioned that their recent setup direction has not been ideal and resulted in bouncing issues during the race. He hopes that the team can find solutions to this problem in the future. Despite the challenges, both Russell and Lewis Hamilton managed to finish the race and score points for the team.

Looking ahead to the future, Mercedes is focusing on improvements for the 2024 season. Russell revealed that they are taking inspiration from their successful cars from previous generations, aiming to enhance the characteristics of their upcoming challenger. By learning from their past successes, Mercedes aims to close the performance gap with their rivals and return to their dominant form in Formula 1.
