Mercedes-AMG Unveils Power-Packed CLE 53 Coupe

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the new CLE 53 Coupe as an indirect replacement for the discontinued E53 Coupe. Based on the recently revealed CLE-Class, the CLE 53 gets a powerful 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol engine developing 448hp and 560Nm. It does 0-100kph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 270kph with the optional package.

The mild hybrid powertrain comes mated to a 9-speed auto gearbox and 4Matic all-wheel drive system. On the outside, the CLE 53 Coupe gets AMG’s signature styling cues like the Panamericana grille, sportier bumpers, new LED headlamps and 19-inch wheels. The interior also sees AMG-specific touches like the Performance steering wheel and updated digital displays.

Key mechanical upgrades over the standard CLE include retuned AMG Ride Control suspension, rear-wheel steering, and larger front/rear track width for better dynamics. An optional AMG Dynamic Plus package further sharpens the driving experience.

The new performance coupe resurrects the two-door in Mercedes’ line-up after the E53 Coupe was discontinued. It will rival the likes of the BMW 4 Series Coupe with its mix of power, luxury and dynamics. India launch plans are unclear at the moment but its predecessor was sold here, so the CLE 53 could arrive sometime in the future.
