iPhone 16 leaks point towards a totally new button addition

Now that the iPhone 15 series are in the market, it is time to turn our attention to Apple’s next smartphone – the iPhone 16. Leaks and rumours are alsreayd abuzz on social media, but the on that caught our attention comes from a noted leaker ‘Instant Digital’. According to the leak, it seems that Apple is planning to add another button to their iPhone 16 series. The tech giant replaced the lock slider on the iPhone with the new live action button, and now another button may be joining the fray.

Now, there is no information as to what the button will accomplish, but the leaker does suggest that the new addition will be present on all the iPhone 16 models, making it a sort of universal feature. To add more depth to this rumour, the l;eaker goes on to say that the mmWave antenna will be relocated to the left edge of the smartphone in order to make room for this new button. There is also some indication that the new action button will be changed to a solid state one, meaning the button won’t move when pressed, but deliver haptic feedback instead. The power and volume rockers will reportedly remain unchanged.

We have been seeing leaks regarding this new button on other platforms as well, and it is widely speculated that this new button will also be a solid state one, but there is no concrete evidence yet. Personally, it does sound a bit odd that Apple is planning to add another button, given that the action button can be mapped to perform a host of tasks. But, it is what it is at the moment, and we will have to wait for a few months to see some concrete evidence for the same.
