Owning a website is important in today’s world, especially if you are running an online business. What is even more important, is to have a website with a catchy domain name. Off late, suffixes have become increasingly creative, with .blog being our favourite at the moment, but now, Google domains has announced that they will be releasing a new domain suffix. Say hello to ‘.ing’
Registrations for the top level domain have begun, but as expected, they are not cheap and interested parties will have to put up as much as $1 million to be able to choose the domain name of their choice with this creative new suffix. In order to show users what they can do with this new suffix, Google has tied up with some popular brands.
Canva, for instance, has registered the domains draw.ing and design.ing. Adobe has gone for the domains edit.ing and sign.ing. As you can see, the possibilities are endless, but if you want your business to be on the front of the list for choosing a cool .ing domain, the price is going to be huge.
101Domain, who has partnered with Google to sell these domains, has revealed that the Early access pricing of $1 million will be applicable for week 1, after that the prices will be reduced gradually to $340,000, $115,000, $35,000, and $11,999. After this, daily reductions will be made and the lowest price you can expect to pay for a .ing domain is $150. However, it will take some time for the price to come down to that and by then, we expect the creative domain names will be taken.
Google Domains, as it turns out, it in the process of getting fully transferred to SquareSpace, with most users already being shifted to the new portal. It will be interesting to see how much of a say Google will have with these .ing domains moving forward.
