In 2024, the narrative will be continued in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

The next installment in the Planet of the Apes franchise will begin production shortly, and it has yet another very lengthy title. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which picks up the story years after 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes for what’s described as “an all-new chapter,” was announced today by 20th Century Studios. Production is set to begin next month, with Wes Ball, best known for the Maze Runner trilogy, serving as director.

We don’t know much more about the film, and the earliest concept image doesn’t reveal anything (see above). The company did, however, announce some of the cast members, including Owen Teague (Black Mirror and the recent It movies), Freya Allen (The Witcher), and Peter Macon (The Orville). Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Patrick Aison wrote the script (Prey).

It is unclear how you will be able to see the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The company claims the picture will be released in 2024 but does not specify a theatrical release date, while franchise films like the Predator spinoff Prey have been published straight on Hulu.
