How to enable the screen lock on your Wear OS smartwatch

Device security forms the backbone of Android devices today with Google bumping up security benchmarks and parameters with every new update. Initially, when Google launched the Wear OS smartwatch lineup, there was not a lot of attention to security and there were many users who faced a very difficult time keeping the data on their smartwatches secure.

Now, thanks to periodic upgrades and optimizations, Wear OS smartwatches come with the same level of security that you will usually find in Android smartphones. The screen lock feature that Wear OS smartwatches have makes sure that no one else can access the contents of your smartwatch, thus keeping you safe from data theft.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to enable the screen lock on your Wear OS smartwatch.

Open the ‘Settings’ app on your Wear OS smartwatch.

Scroll through the list and tap on the ‘Personalisation’ option.

Tap on the ‘Screen Lock’ option.

Now choose the type of screen lock you want to apply. We will choose a pattern for this tutorial.

Set the desired unlock pattern or PIN, depending on your choice of lock.

The Screen lock feature will now be applied to your Wear OS smartwatch. Now, whenever your screen on time is over, the smartwatch will be locked, and you will now need to enter your PIN or pattern in order to unlock the device.
