Cluster Controller

Meaning – When you have a cluster in an organisation, you need a machine that controls the operation of the cluster. Such a machine is known as a cluster controller. This cluster controller is a part of the cluster and is tasked with distributing jobs to the other machines for processing and receiving output from the other machines.

Computer clusters are used to accomplish computational intensive tasks, and the admin requires the aid of a controller machine to oversee the whole operation and also collect the outputs that accrue.

Hence, the first thing that the admin has to do is to assign one machine within the cluster, as a cluster controller. As mentioned earlier, this cluster controller assigns work to other nodes in the cluster, handles any failover that occurs, and receives all the outputs that are generated by the nodes.

Example of usage“The cluster is typically configured in a master-slave arrangement, with the cluster controller serving as the master.”
