Meaning – The word build-to-order refers to the process of preparing or constructing a device according to the unique specifications requested by the client. Usually, when we go through the portfolio of a mainstream brand, chances are that the device we like may have some specifications that are required, but some that do not fit the bill. In such cases, the best thing to do is approach third party vendors, who offer build a device that suits all of your requirements. Such companies practise what is known as ‘Build-To-Order’, where they ask the individuals what they require in the device or product, and then build it and deliver it within a stipulated time frame.
This enables the users to get exactly what they want, but at the cost of losing on the completed feeling of a mainstream product.
Example of usage – “The gamer decided to use the build to order approach as he did not find a single mainstream computer that fit his requirements.”
