Players eagerly anticipating the opportunity to dive into Diablo IV this weekend were met with disappointment as Blizzard’s Battle.net online service became the victim of a malicious DDoS attack. The attack, which commenced in the early hours of Sunday morning, hindered access to various Blizzard titles, including Diablo IV and World of Warcraft, until the company successfully resolved the issue.
Blizzard’s customer support account took to Twitter at 10:24 AM to inform users of the ongoing DDoS attack impacting game latency and connections. Initially, the company stated it was investigating an authentication issue before confirming the DDoS attack. By 12:30 PM ET, the problem persisted, leading to high latency and disconnections for affected players. A notification displayed when launching Battle.net on PC informed users of the active efforts to mitigate the issue.
