Cloud Strife, Sephiroth, and Aerith make cameos in Crisis Core, a precursor to Final Fantasy VII. Instead of placing players in any of these positions, the game’s protagonist is Zack Fair. Zack was only seen in flashbacks in Final Fantasy VII and had a minimal role. Crisis Core focuses on the character, explaining his past with Cloud and Sephiroth as well as his relationship with the renowned Buster Sword. Zack is a SOLDIER member, and the game takes place seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII.
