Web browsers have evolved over time and today, browsers like Chrome and Safari feature inbuilt functionalities which make it easy for users to access files and documents directly within the browser. One of the most popular file formats in PDF format. most commonly used for documents, PDF documents come in all sizes and as memory conscious users, we prefer previewing the document before going in for the download.
The Chrome browser features an inbuilt PDF viewer, but there are many cases where the PDF reader refuses to work and instead of previewing a PDF document, the browser starts the download.
In this tutorial, we will show you how you can fix the PDF reader error in the Chrome Browser.
Step 1. Open the Chrome browser on your Desktop/Laptop.
Step 2. Click on the ‘three-dot‘ icon on the top right-hand side.
Step 3. From the drop-down menu, click on ‘Settings‘.
Step 4. Scroll down the settings window and then click on the ‘Advanced‘ option.
Step 5. In the Privacy and Security section, click on the ‘Site Settings‘.
Step 6. Click on the ‘PDF Documents‘ option.
Step 7. Disable the switch next to Download PDF Files Instead of Automatically Opening Them in Chrome.
The PDF document will now open in Chrome before downloading it.
