Call of Duty Updates Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Playlists

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 developer Infinity Ward just announced some playlist modifications on Twitter. The most notable changes include the reintroduction of the Control game mode, which plays like a cross between Domination and Search & Destroy, and a Tier 1 Shipment playlist, which seems to have been created to assist players grinding through weapon unlocks and battle pass levels.

Naturally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Season 1 multiplayer mode won’t expire until early February 2023, giving gamers plenty of time to work toward earning new weapons, attachments, and skins. Furthermore, all of the big content improvements described in Infinity Ward’s Season 1 Reloaded plan have been implemented, thus tiny modifications to in-game playlists and the odd new multiplayer mode will be the only significant changes for the time being.

This week’s big announcement seems to be the new Control mode from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which demands a more tactical approach to gaming and should integrate well with the multiplayer system from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Some gamers may recall that the mode appeared in Call of Duty Mobile and was released with a few severe issues in Call of Duty: Vanguard last year. Additionally, for those who haven’t satisfied their thirst for total mayhem, the 24/7 holiday-themed Shipment playlist named The Naughty List will be accessible into the new year.

On the Call of Duty: Warzone 2 front, things seem mostly untouched. The normal Battle Royale playlist, which includes teams of up to four players, will be joined by first and third-person Trios playlists. Furthermore, there will be no changes to Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s DMZ mode—which, considering that most players are still adjusting to the new Building 21 upgrade, should come as no surprise.

Overall, although this week won’t be particularly content-rich, there are enough good modes and maps to try out before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s second season launches in around a month. There’s a lot of variation right now, from the Atmograd Raid to the outright bizarre Warzone Cup game mode, and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 gamers are unlikely to be bored in the near future.
