The remake of Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg will be released on July 13th, according to Koei Tecmo. During the Japanese broadcast of February’s Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo and Gust unveiled the remake of the original game in the long-running alchemical RPG franchise. The remake will have updated visuals and drawings, as well as a number of additional features for the 1997 RPG. Fans now have a clearer sense of when they will be able to delve into the franchise’s roots.
While the series has remained primarily niche for the majority of its existence, Atelier has achieved recent success across numerous titles. The continuing Atelier Ryza trilogy has generated the franchise’s best-selling titles in its 25-year existence. Ryza’s success has also prompted the developer to revisit some of the franchise’s previous games, with Atelier Sophie DX, a remake of the 2015 RPG, releasing in 2021, followed by Atelier Sophie 2 in 2022. This summer, Atelier will return to the franchise’s first game.
With a new Japanese teaser, Koei Tecmo officially revealed the release date for Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg Remake on Monday morning. Atelier Marie’s newest caravan reveals the game is planned to debut on July 13th for PC, PlayStation platforms, and Switch. The video showcases the Atelier Marie remake’s enhanced visuals and art, introducing players to the vibrant town of Salburg and many of the people they will encounter during the game. The trailer concludes by introducing some of the Japanese pre-order extras, which include a soundtrack CD and an art book.
The remake of Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg is planned to introduce a slew of new features to the 1997 RPG, providing fresh experiences for both longtime fans and newbies. The caravan demonstrated the game’s redesigned gathering mechanisms, which functioned similarly to current Atelier titles such as Atelier Ryza. The remake will also include a “Unlimited” mode, promising a more relaxed playstyle as well as the introduction of new events and character interactions. It has been announced that Atelier Marie Remake would have an enhanced tutorial for those who are new to the Atelier franchise.
Atelier Marie: Salburg’s Alchemist The remake is part of a 25th anniversary commemoration that has already seen the release of several titles. The previously mentioned Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream was released last year, over seven years after the first game. Atelier will also end the Ryza chapter of the franchise next month with Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Hidden Key. The next remake of Atelier Marie will take fans back to the beginnings of the long-running game.
