Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon had a successful debut weekend, attracting over 156,000 concurrent players on Steam. This launch performance ranks it as the fifth-largest launch of 2023 and FromSoftware’s best launch weekend, second only to Elden Ring.
According to SteamDB, Armored Core 6 was the ninth-most-played game on Steam in the last 24 hours, surpassing popular titles like FIFA 23, Rainbow Six Siege, and Team Fortress 2.
Among games released in 2023, only Resident Evil 4, Sons of the Forest, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Hogwarts Legacy had higher concurrent player peaks. The reported player count doesn’t include console players.
In comparison to other FromSoftware titles, Armored Core 6 reached second place with 150,000 simultaneous players, trailing behind Elden Ring. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Dark Souls 3 had concurrent player counts of 125,000 and 129,000, respectively.
Armored Core 6: Fire of Rubicon received praise for its responsive combat, deep mech customization, and mission variety but was criticized for incorporating mechanics from FromSoftware’s “soulsborne” games, which some found to be out of place in the mech-themed title.
