Capcom has confirmed the Resident Evil Requiem release times for all platforms and regions, and preloading is now live for anyone who has pre-ordered digitally. Whether you are on PS5, Xbox Series X or S, Steam, or picking it up on Nintendo Switch 2, here is every detail you need to make sure you are ready the moment the game goes live.
What is Resident Evil Requiem?
Before we get into the launch schedule, here is a quick overview for anyone coming in fresh.
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth main entry in the Resident Evil series, following Resident Evil Village from 2021. It features a new playable character, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, who investigates a series of mysterious deaths connected to survivors of the Raccoon City incident, with federal agent Leon S. Kennedy returning to help her.
The game was announced in July 2024 and directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who also directed Resident Evil 7. It went through a significant development shift, having originally been conceived as an online open-world multiplayer game before being rebooted in 2021 into a more traditional single-player experience.
Gameplay alternates between Grace and Leon. Grace’s sections lean into the survival horror style of Resident Evil 7 and Village, while Leon’s sections are more action-oriented, similar to Resident Evil 4. Both characters can be played from either first-person or third-person perspective.
Resident Evil Requiem release times: console
Resident Evil Requiem released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026.
On consoles, the game follows a traditional midnight local release in most regions. That means if you are playing on PS5, Xbox Series X, or Nintendo Switch 2, the unlock rolls out at midnight local time as February 27 begins in your time zone.
Note: US console players in all time zones unlock at midnight Eastern Time, meaning West Coast players get access slightly earlier relative to their local clock.
Resident Evil Requiem release times: PC (Steam)
The PC version works differently. Rather than rolling out at local midnight in each region, Resident Evil Requiem launched on Steam at midnight Eastern Time, which was a simultaneous worldwide release on PC, meaning all Steam players received access to the game at the same time.
What that means in practice is that PC players in many regions wait a few hours longer than console players in the same city.
If you are a PC player in Europe or Australia, the console version will unlock several hours earlier than Steam. If getting in at the earliest possible moment matters to you, that is worth factoring into your platform decision.
How to preload Resident Evil Requiem
The preload for the digital version of Resident Evil Requiem began on February 25, 2026, exactly two days before the official release. Preload is now live on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam for all players who have pre-ordered the game digitally.
To preload, simply open the game’s listing in your platform’s library or store, and the download option will be available if your purchase is registered. The game will unlock automatically at the appropriate release time for your region without you needing to do anything further.
This gives players plenty of time to complete the full download in advance so they will not be staring at a progress bar on launch day. Given the file size (more on that below), taking advantage of the preload window is strongly recommended if you are not on a fast connection.
