OMODA & JAECOO is getting ready to put an AI-powered cabin into showrooms. The Chery-owned brand says it will unveil its first mass-produced AI Smart Cockpit at “Super AI Night” in Indonesia on July 27, a debut it frames as the next step in an “intelligent mobility” strategy that it plans to roll out across global markets, the UAE among them.
Smart cockpits — the industry’s catch-all for voice assistants, oversized touchscreens, connected services and, increasingly, on-board AI models — have become the arena where Chinese automakers try to out-feature legacy rivals. The word that matters in this announcement is “mass-produced.” Plenty of carmakers demo slick in-car AI on a concept; far fewer ship it in volume across a lineup. If OMODA & JAECOO is genuinely moving the feature from show floor to assembly line, that is the newsworthy part.
The two badges are Chery’s newer, export-focused brands. OMODA skews toward younger buyers and urban crossovers, while JAECOO leans into a more rugged, premium SUV image. Both have made tech-forward positioning central to their pitch as they expand across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, so anchoring a launch to an event literally called Super AI Night is on-brand.
The catch is how little the company has actually disclosed. There is no word yet on which chip powers the system, which AI model sits behind the assistant, what it can meaningfully do beyond the usual voice-and-navigation tricks, or when UAE deliveries begin. The announcement leans on milestone language — “another major milestone” — more than on hard specs, and it is tied to a splashy brand showcase rather than a technical briefing.
For now, the takeaway is the timeline: a production-ready AI cockpit shown on July 27, with a promise that the technology will “gradually expand” to markets like the UAE. Whether it does more than match the smart-cockpit features already shipping from BYD, Geely and other rivals is the question the Indonesia reveal will need to answer.
