Chevrolet Previews Next-Generation 2027 Silverado 1500 for the GCC With New V8 Engines

Chevrolet has pulled the covers off the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 for the Gulf, confirming that its full-size pickup will reach GCC showrooms in summer 2027 with a redesigned body, an overhauled digital interior and a new pair of V8 engines the company calls its most powerful Silverado setup yet.

The most significant change sits under the bonnet. Chevrolet says the 2027 truck will be led by a next-generation 6.6-litre V8 in the flagship ZR2 and a 5.7-litre V8 across every other trim, each mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The brand did not publish horsepower or torque figures, saying detailed GCC specifications will follow closer to launch. The two units effectively succeed the 5.3-litre and 6.2-litre V8s in today’s Silverado — a notable move toward larger displacement at a time when much of the industry has been shrinking its engines.

The engines are part of a wider investment in GM’s small-block V8 family. Chevrolet says they will be assembled at GM’s Flint Engine Operations in Flint, Michigan — the same performance push that includes the recently announced Corvette LS6 6.7-litre V8 — and promises gains in power, torque and durability over the outgoing units.

Outside, the 2027 Silverado adopts an all-new exterior that Chevrolet describes as having a bolder stance and stronger face, with a new front fascia, revised lighting signatures and trim-specific detailing meant to give each model its own character. The company frames the redesign as the next chapter of Chevy truck styling while keeping the Silverado’s work-ready proportions.

Inside, every 2027 Silverado 1500 gets a fully digital cockpit built around a 16.3-inch central touchscreen and a 12.2-inch driver display, both standard across the range. The system pairs OnStar connectivity with Google Built-In, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. At launch, the off-road ZR2 will also offer Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver-assistance system — the first time the technology has been offered on Silverado’s most capable off-road trim.

The line-up spans four broad choices. The ZR2 sits at the top as the most capable off-road version, carrying the larger 6.6-litre V8, while a reworked Trail Boss targets buyers after a more attainable off-road look and added all-terrain ability. The Z71 — a new trim name for the 2027 model year — bundles in a now-standard Z71 off-road package, and a base Silverado rounds out the range as a straightforward workhorse with a standard V8 and tow-and-haul capability.

“Silverado has earned the trust of truck customers across the GCC through years of proven performance in the conditions that matter most to this region,” said Mohammed Al-Fayyad, managing director of commercial operations at General Motors Africa & Middle East. He said the next-generation truck combines “power that performs with purpose, technology that supports confidence behind the wheel, and a more refined, connected cabin experience.”

The Gulf preview lands ahead of the truck’s wider rollout. Industry reports expect the next-generation Silverado to reach US buyers first, around late 2026, before the regional arrival in summer 2027, when Chevrolet says GCC pricing, trims and final specifications will be confirmed. The trucks will be built at GM’s full-size pickup plants in North America. For a market where the V8 pickup remains a fixture, Chevrolet’s decision to go bigger rather than smaller is a clear bet that Gulf buyers still want displacement.
