IKEA releases new line of affordable Qi2 wireless chargers

IKEA is getting more serious about smartphone accessories with the launch of three new wireless charging products. These devices use the latest Qi2 technology, which is a major step up from older wireless pads. If you use a modern phone, this means you get faster charging speeds and a much more reliable connection. The new range is designed to blend into your home decor while offering the kind of performance usually reserved for much more expensive tech brands.

The most interesting item in the new collection is the Sjömärke 2. This specific charger is designed to be mounted underneath a table or desk, making it completely invisible from the top. You just place your phone on the surface of the furniture, and it charges through the wood or plastic. It is a great way to keep a workspace clean without cables cluttering the desk. Alongside the hidden charger, IKEA is also releasing a magnetic pad called Tynning, which snaps onto the back of your phone like a MagSafe puck, and a foldable stand version that lets you watch videos or take calls while your battery fills up.

The switch to the Qi2 standard is the real highlight here. This technology uses magnets to align the charging coils perfectly every time. One of the biggest frustrations with older wireless chargers was waking up to find your phone didn’t charge because it was slightly off center. These magnets solve that problem while allowing for 15W charging, which is twice as fast as many basic wireless pads. IKEA is keeping the prices low, which makes these some of the most affordable ways to get into the magnetic charging ecosystem.

You can find the new chargers at IKEA stores and on their website starting this week. The magnetic pads are the most budget friendly option, while the under table Sjömärke unit sits at a slightly higher price point. If you want to upgrade your home office or bedside table with faster, magnetic charging, these are available for immediate purchase.
