Sony Interactive Entertainment held a special State of Play Japan presentation, focusing exclusively on games developed in Japan and across Asia. The 40-minute livestream was hosted by Japanese voice actor Yuki Kaji and presented in Japanese with English subtitles. It featured new game reveals, release dates, major DLCs, and hardware for the PlayStation 5 platform.

New Game Announcements and Release Dates
The first update came in regards to the upcoming BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, a roguelike action spin-off of the BlazBlue series, which will launch on PlayStation 5 on February 12, 2026. The game features 14 familiar characters from the franchise and a new story, with deep character build options that let players craft their own playstyle. Pre-orders for the game are now available.
Next, the psychological horror anthology BrokenLore revealed two titles during the show. BrokenLore: Unfollow, a story centered on the dark side of social media, will release on January 16, 2026, with pre-orders now open. The show also unveiled BrokenLore: Ascend, a Tokyo-set survival horror game with climbing mechanics, scheduled for release in Summer 2026.
Coffee Talk Tokyo, a narrative adventure spin-off of the Coffee Talk series, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 on March 5, 2026. Players take on the role of a barista in a cozy Tokyo café, brewing coffee and listening to the stories of human and y?kai-descendant customers.
Damon & Baby, an action adventure game, is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in early 2026. The game follows a cursed demon lord and a human child on a heartfelt journey, combining exploration with twin-stick shooter combat, loot collection, and character progression.
inKonbini: One Store. Many Stories, a narrative life-sim game about working in a convenience store, will launch on PlayStation 5 in April 2026. Players interact with regular customers in a quiet town and shape their own story through everyday choices.
Kyouran Makaism, a new 3D action RPG from the team behind Disgaea, will launch on January 29, 2026. The game lets players turn defeated enemies into 16 types of Familiars, then command or transform them into powerful weapons to reclaim stolen pudding.
MotionRec, a record-and-replay puzzle action game, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026 on PlayStation 5. Players move, jump, and record their actions to replay them and solve challenging paths in a machine-dominated world.
Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse, a 2D roguelike action game from Pocketpair, will launch on March 5, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Pre-orders are now available, and the game features boss battles with unique attack patterns and mechanics.
No Sleep for Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files will release on February 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. On PS5, the game features enhanced visuals, and players join Special Investigator Kaname Date and his AI partner Aiba in an investigation involving a kidnapped net idol.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer returns to PlayStation after 20 years, launching on PlayStation 5 on February 25, 2026 (February 26 in Japan). Players race through a sealed-off Tokyo against over 400 rivals, tune their cars, and use a Spirit Point system where willpower affects victory.
Wandering Sword, a pixel-art RPG set in ancient China, will launch on May 28, 2026, for PlayStation 5. The game features dual battle modes, 20 endings shaped by player choices, and a full Japanese voiceover performed by an all-Japanese cast. Pre-orders are now available.
Remakes and reimagined titles
Square Enix revealed the latest trailer for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, launching on PlayStation 5 on February 5, 2026. This reimagined version adds a new episode where players reunite with an adult Keifa in a new area and team up with him again.
Koei Tecmo Games presented a new trailer for Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, launching on March 12, 2026, for PlayStation 5. This full remake of the 2003 horror adventure lets players explore a cursed village and confront spirits using the Camera Obscura. Pre-orders are now available.
DLC content and Expansion updates
The first DLC for Elden Ring Nightreign, titled The Forsaken Hollows, will release on December 4, 2025. The update adds two new playable Nightfarers (the Scholar and the Undertaker) and two new bosses, along with a new trailer showcasing the content.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins will receive a major DLC expansion, Visions of Four Heroes, launching on January 22, 2026. The DLC features a new story centered on the Four Heroes, new allies, new weapons, and expanded 1 vs. 1,000 action across immersive battlefields. Pre-orders are now open.
Digimon Story Time Stranger will expand with its first Season Pass DLC, Alternate Dimension, arriving in Winter 2025. The DLC introduces five new Digimon and a new story focused on key characters, allowing players to explore a new side of the Digital World.
Super Robot Wars Y will release its first collaboration DLC Pack 1 on November 20, 2025 (November 21 in Japan). The pack features crossover content from Galactic Whirlwind Bryger, The Big O, and F?to PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull, adding new area missions and playable units.
What’s coming for the PS5 and Betas
The next Closed Beta for MARVEL T?kon: Fighting Souls will launch on PlayStation 5 on December 5, 2025 (5 PM JST). This beta adds Spider-Man and Ghost Rider to the roster, bringing the total number of playable characters to eight. Players can form four-character teams and fight in two new stages, Savage Land and X-Mansion, each with unique interactive elements.
A demo for Octopath Traveler 0 is now available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, ahead of the game’s full release on December 4, 2025. Players can experience the first three hours of the game and carry their progress into the full version.
Monster Hunter Wilds will receive Free Title Update 4 on December 16, 2025. The update adds the Giant Halberd Dragon, Gogmazios, along with new endgame content and seasonal events for hunters.
Sonic the Hedgehog has been added to Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac as a collaboration character. New stages inspired by Sonic’s world, featuring signature speed, classic gimmicks, and familiar faces, are now available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds received an update adding Nights, AiAi, and Tangle & Whisper as free collaboration racers. The SpongeBob SquarePants Pack DLC for the game will launch on November 19, 2025 (November 20 in Japan).
Once Upon a Katamari will receive new content this November with the Katamari Dance Dance Remix Pack, featuring five new remix tracks and custom costumes. A follow-up pack, the Katamari Neo Remix Pack, will release in Winter 2025.
Hardware announcements
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the PlayStation 27-inch Gaming Monitor with DualSense Charging Hook, scheduled to launch in the U.S. and Japan in 2026. The monitor is designed for PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro consoles and compatible PC and Mac devices.
The monitor features a Quad High Definition (QHD) IPS display with a resolution up to 2560 x 1440, High Dynamic Range support, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). It supports refresh rates of up to 120 Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro, and up to 240 Hz on compatible PC and Mac systems. The integrated DualSense Charging Hook allows for convenient controller charging on the monitor stand.
Aside from these announcements, Fate Trigger, a next-generation tactical hero shooter, will begin early access in Q1 2026. The game will add two new heroes, Fari (an attacker who creates clones) and TaTa (a defender with mini-turrets), and a new map called Pale Blight Outpost. Gran Turismo Series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi announced that the Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack will release on December 4, 2025. This paid add-on introduces a new game mode focused on authentic motorsport challenges, including 24-hour endurance racing and full race weekends.
