Microsoft is making it simpler for Xbox players to participate in Discord audio conversations

Microsoft and Discord want to make it easy to join a voice channel from an Xbox console. If you’re a Discord regular, you may remember the firms’ recent Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S connection. Following a beta test in July, Discord began making the functionality available to all Xbox users in September. Unfortunately, the connection isn’t as simple as one would wish; joining a voice chat needs a transfer procedure that requires the Xbox mobile app.

That is all about to change. Microsoft revealed in a blog post that it was eliminating the need to use a phone to join Discord audio conversations as part of a beta upgrade Xbox Insiders may check out right now. The new software includes a server browser that enables you to easily join a voice channel from your console. You’ll still need your phone if you want to contact a particular buddy through Discord, but the change streamlines what was previously an extremely convoluted procedure. While the function is presently in testing, Microsoft will most likely make it available to all Xbox users in the next weeks.
