The franchise that saw a complete trilogy 18 years ago, is all set to suck us back into the matrix as the build-up to the all-new Matrix 4 movie started off yesterday with an intriguing title reveal teaser and an innovative website that is centered around the critical choice between the Blue pill and the Red Pill.
The new installment in the series, titled ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ takes viewers back into the Matrix with the protagonist Neo (Keanu Reeves) coming back for yet another adventure. The teaser that dropped on all major social media platforms yesterday, was centered around the idea of ‘The choice is yours, where we are shown the iconic Red Pill and Blue Pill against a plain white background, but for the first time, what we noticed is that inside the pill was some actual matrix code, hinting at possibilities that were previously unexplored.
To add to that, Warner Bros. also launched an innovative website that gives us an interactive and immersive look at the world of the Matrix Resurrections. if you head to the website (link at the end of the article), you will be asked to make a simple choice –
- Click on the Blue pill and stick to the reality you have known your entire life.
- Click on the Red pill and commit that you are ready to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
If you decide to click the blue pill, you will hear a voiceover by none other than Neil Patrick Harris’s character who will say that “You have lost your capacity to discern reality from fiction”, after which, he will urge you to accept the fact that your reality is real and the segment ends with the current time flashing on your screen.
However, if you decide to click on the red pill, you will hear Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s voice telling you that even if you feel that the current time is real, it is still far from the truth.
No matter what pill you pick, you will be treated to some quick-cut shots from the Resurrections movie and what we noticed is that the footage changed every time we interacted with the pills. We have been told that there are close to 180,000 variations of the footage, so it may happen that the variant of footage you see is totally different from what we have seen.
Through the segment of footage that was presented to us, we caught a glimpse of Keanu Reeves’s character Neo, popping Blue pills that have been prescribed to him, until Yahya’s character approaches him and tells him that his current reality is just a mirage. We also caught a few glimpses of Neo in action and fighting to stay in control of his reality. From whatever we saw, we are sure that the movie is going to give us the same goosebumps we got when we watched the main trilogy.
All of this has got us extremely excited for the return of the 22-year-old franchise and we can’t wait to catch the main trailer tomorrow, that is Thursday, 9th September 2021.
